1-abc.net Duplicate Finder 6

In times when thousands of files are located on a computer, sometimes it is very hard to keep track of them. This program will help you to detect duplicate files on your machine, on external hard drives, CDs, DVDs, USB sticks and camera cards.

Since each user defines duplicate files different concerning file name, file size, attributes, last modification time and so on, you can determine by yourself what the program should look for. It is also possible to compare unique CRC32 checksums of each file.

After the selection of any path or drive you like, the program checks all files in all folders and subfolders and compares them with each other, so definitely no duplicate file will be forgotten.

When the search is done, you will see a list where the found duplicate files are categorized according to their file size to make it even easier.

Have it find images that are the same but different name. It is not able to find copies of an image.

Enable user to scan more than one hard drive per scan. I have five HDD's on my computer it's impossible to search for duplicates across the whole computer with this program as you can only select scans for individual HDD's not all together.

Find duplicate jpg with different resolution so that I can delete the edited version and keep the original

I do a lot of photo editing, especially reducing the size of images so that I can send them to friends and family. When sorting duplicates, i need to see which has the lower resolution so that i don't delete the original.

Include an option to be able to preview duplicate files instead of opening to view

where a duplicate has been noted, a preview of both files be available on screen from which one can decide to act.

Allow to set lower and higher size limits at the same time.

Right now you can only filter files smaller than X or files bigger than Y. It would be useful to be able to select files between X and Y. For example discarding files smaller than 1MB and bigger than 2GB.

Remove the items to get the full version and enter the license key after it's registered.

After the program is registered, the menu items to get the license key and to enter a new license don't make sense. In my opinion they shouldn't be there at all after the registration is successful. Maybe add in the about section of the program...

Include in depth details for each file found

useful to know what the files do. It may be that the file is required in two different places.

add option to hide the window while scanning, as the process can be very long

Be able to see duplicates appear as the program is running instead of having to wait for the program to complete

This wouuld enable you to stop the search before scan finish if you find what you were looking for

Currently the presentation of the duplicates found is in a categorized way with file size ranges. In my opinion the flexibility it provides towards really finding important duplicate files is poor. I think it would be better to have a list of...

As well as a global search be able to specify specific file types such as jpg, txt, doc etc, so that not all duplicates are found. Also would speed up the process.

this would enable users to be more selective, the program wouldn't run as long, which would free up system resources for other work.

Include all system folders such as 'System 32' in the 'Excepted Files and Folders' section by default, this will prevent accidental deletion of important library files (dll's)

Include the ability to mix and match utilities into a suite of tools (i.e. duplicate finder, HDDwasher, Internet Optimization etc) rather than sell them as individual tools.

This would save money, and give the user a much more useful tool. It may be that you'd actually sell more of this product if it encompassed the whole suite of tools

Have the option to select all those files that are NOT duplicated, handy for data consolidation.

Being able to detect which files have identical duplicates (regardless of file name or date stamp) and also being able to reverse the selection to copy or move files would be a valuable asset in file management.

Improve the graphics of the application, they don't look good maximized.

Aside from a complete application makeover which may be needed to adapt it to current usability trends, the application graphics don't look good when the application is maximized (if the resolution doesn't match that of dimensions of the program)....

Use a different checksum validation, CRC-32 is quite malleable.

CRC-32 digests are malleable, you can modify a file to get the CRC-32 you're looking for. A more interesting hash to check against would be SHA-1, it probably takes longer to compute but you get the guarantee that the file contents are actually...

Right now search is performed on just on core, the program seems to have just one flow of execution. It would be most beneficial if several threads are used when searching, calculating hashes, etc. The clearer scenario that comes to my mind is...
